Get ready to pierce the heavens and go all out as another major anime milestone is nearly here, with the Gurren Lagann movies celebrating their 15th & 16th anniversaries with a return to the theaters.
Gurren Lagann is an anime fan-favorite mecha series created by Gainax and co-produced by Aniplex and Konami. It follows two teenagers who, after discovering a mech buried deep in the Earth, leave their underground village and emerge onto a surface world dominated by the Spiral King and his animalistic Beastmen forces. The series would go on to become a cult classic, getting a game, a light novel series, manga, and anime films.
The Gurren Lagann movies, GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE – Childhood’s End (2008) & GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE – The Lights in the Sky Are Stars (2009) and recaps of the series. They were directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (who also directed Promare and Kill la Kill), with screenwriting by Kazuki Nakashima, both also having worked on the original anime series. Both Gurren Lagann movies will be heading to North American theaters for the first time in 4K and 4D in English and Japanese with English subtitle options.

Gurren Lagann The Movie – Childhood’s End will be in theaters on January 16 & 17, 2024, with Gurren Lagann The Movie – The Lights in the Sky are Stars on January 23 & 24, 2024. Tickets will go on sale on December 8th at FathomEvents.com.
