Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years, The Boy and the Heron, is heading to North American theaters thanks to GKIDS Films, showing a captivating fantasy story dealing with grief and what it means to move ahead.

The Boy and the Heron is a Fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, his first work in a decade. It is the story of a young boy who, after the death of his mother and his father getting remarried, moves to a new town where he discovers a fantastical world and a talking grey heron. Animated by Studio Ghibli, the film’s English cast includes Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson, and Florence Pugh.
The Boy and the Heron will have special preview engagements in NYC & LA beginning on November 22, before heading to theaters nationwide and IMAX starting December 8. Learn more and get your tickets here.
