Anime film PSYCHO-PASS: Providence will be screened at select theaters this weekend, meaning fans of the sci-fi action crime series will want to make sure they don’t miss it!
“January 2118. Chief Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane Tsunemori, receives a report of an incident on a foreign vessel – the body of Professor Milicia Stronskaya has been discovered. Behind the incident is a group known as the Peacebreakers, a foreign paramilitary organization and a new outside threat who are targeting the professor’s research papers known as the “Stronskaya Document”.

Reunited with Shinya Kogami, a former fugitive from the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane grapples with a case that quickly escalates beyond their expectations. The Stronskaya Papers could reveal a truth that would shake Japan’s government, and even the Sibyl System, to the core.”
PSYCHO-PASS: Providence is directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, with a screenplay by Makoto Fukami & Tow Ubukata, story by Tow Ubukata, music Yugo Kanno, and animation by Production I.G.. The movie has the Criminal Investigation Department dealing with a case that may change the future of Japan. The movie will serve as “the missing link between PSYCHO-PASS: Sinners of the System Case 3: On the Other Side of Love and Hate and PSYCHO-PASS 3.”
PSYCHO-PASS is a cyberpunk psychological thriller franchise produced by Production I.G. and released in 2012. It was co-directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani and Katsuyuki Motohiro, written by Gen Urobuchi, with character designs by Akira Amano, and music by Yugo Kanno. Set in a futuristic Japan where citizens’ brains are scanned by a bio-computer called the Sibyl System. Able to read each person’s potential to be a criminal, members of the Ministry of Welfare Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Department pair themselves with people with latent criminal potential to investigate and solve crimes. The series was well received and gained much praise for its animation, action, and writing. It would go on to get two sequel series, several films, manga series, and novels.
