In a shocking announcement made during this year’s RTX, the upcoming season of Rooster Teeth’s Red vs. Blue will be its last one, ending the much-loved and iconic web series after 20 years.

Red vs. Blue is a comedy web series created by Burnie Burns and based on the Halo franchise. Premiering in 2003, It follows two groups of misfit soldiers as they argue and occasionally fire bullets at each other. The series would receive praise for its comedic & emotional writing, action scenes, and season-long story arcs. The series has had 18 seasons and several miniseries and has been featured in several official Halo games as easter eggs.

Red vs. Blue: Restoration will be the final season of the series, with the trailer showing the character of Church back in the season finale of season 12 during the assault on the team by enemy forces, and shows that the events of Season 14, The Shisno Trilogy, and Zero are all simulations created by Church during that episode, effectively partially rebooting the series’ poorly received recent seasons. Burnie Burns is returning to write the season, with Matt Hullum coming back to direct.

The end of the longest running web series!

Red vs. Blue: Restoration will premiere on Rooster Teeth First this Fall. You can watch the prologue now. Catch up on the entire series on the official YouTube channel and RoosterTeeth.com.
