“Heathers” heads back to theaters next month for its 35th Anniversary

80s teen black comedy Heathers is celebrating its 35th anniversary next month, and Fathom Events is bringing the iconic coming-of-age movie back to theaters!

“Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behavior. When Veronica and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. Soon Veronica realizes that J.D. is intentionally killing students he does not like. She races to stop J.D. while also clashing with the clique’s new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty).”

Heathers is a 1989 teen black comedy written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. The film is the story of a group of popular girls who control their high school and the destruction left behind when one of them teams up with a new student to take them down. The movie stars Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, Kim Walker, and Penelope Milford. Heathers is much loved and has gone on to become a cultural icon, getting a musical adaptation and TV series.

The Heathers 35th Anniversary Screening will be held in theaters on July 30th and is a one-night-only event and include Poor Little Heather – an interview with actress Lisanne Falk (Heather McNamara). Head to Fathom Events to learn more.
