Collectible figures are a staple of being a pop culture fan. From fun media tie-ins to unique character creations, fans are always on the look out for the latest addition to their shelf. Well, one Akihabara company is working on a fun new digital/physical figure line!

The Digital Figure Box is being developed by Gatebox, an Akihabara based Otaku merch company, and is a customizable and posable digital figure. Set up in a display box designed to look like a real collectible box, including the slightly bent box top all nerds will recognize, the digital characters customization promises to be a unique way to engage with them. Gatebox has a reputation for developing interactive otaku items for the home.

So far the early characters revealed are the pink-themed Sato Mikan, the blue-haired Azuma Hikari, and an unnamed character box allowing users to swap out different figures.

Still in development, Gatebox has not given a release date on when they will release the Digital Figure Box. Keep an eye on their official site for the latest updates on this exciting collectible line.
