As reported by Yahoo, Ghostbusters 2016 director Paul Feig has noted he is hopeful for a sequel to the film.
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Feig said:
“We would love [to make another movie]; it’s really up to the studio,” said Feig , in town to promote his upcoming thriller A Simple Favor, which teams Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. “We had so much fun making that movie.”
“I will go to my grave so proud of that movie, and so proud of what that cast did in that film.”

While on the surface doing well, costing $144 million to make and pulling in $229 million, the film is still considered a failure due to the cost of its heavy marketing campaign and tie-in products as well as very mixed reviews.
While Sony was originally excited to make a sequel (creating Ghost Corps branch whose only job is to produce GhostBusters films) there has been no proper word since the movie’s release.
